Submission on the Reviewed Draft White Paper on Local Government (WPLG26)

This is a response, prepared by the partners in Sophakama, to the Reviewed Draft White Paper on Local Government (Reviewed Draft White Paper), published for comment by the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) on 7 May 2026 The partners in Sophakama applaud COGTA’s initiative to review the White Paper on Local Government 1998, and we commend the Department on the progress that has been made to date. We welcome the opportunity to continue engaging in the process by commenting on the Reviewed Draft White Paper.
